Visa requirements

A Singapore visa is not an immigration pass. It is a pre-entry permission for the holder of a valid Singapore visa to travel to, and seek entry, into Singapore. The grant of an immigration pass will be determined by the ICA officers at the point of entry. Possession of a valid visa alone does not guarantee entry into Singapore. The period of stay granted is shown on the visit pass endorsement given on your passport and it is not tied to the validity of your visa.

Eligibility

Indian nationals holding ordinary Indian passports are required to apply for visa to enter Singapore prior to their visit to Singapore. Indian nationals holding diplomatic, official and service passports do not need a visa for entry. Please click here to find out more on the visa requirements for Indian nationals.

If your travel document is issued by one of the countries or regions below, you will need a visa to enter Singapore. Click on individual countries or regions below to find out more.

You will also need a visa if you are travelling on:

• A Palestinian Authority passport

• A temporary passport issued by the United Arab Emirates

• Refugee travel documents issued by a Middle East country. These travel documents are subject to assessment of recognition for entry into Singapore.

Documents required

To apply for an entry visa for business or social visits, you will need the following documents:

• Duly completed Form 14A [PDF, 204 KB] signed by you (all columns and blank spaces to be completed)

• Your recent passport-sized colour photograph taken within the last three months. Please see Photo Guidelines for information on photo requirements.

• A photocopy of your passport’s biodata and last page (valid for at least six months from the date of your entry into Singapore)

• Additional supporting documents may be required on a case-by-case basis.

*The local contact must be either a Singapore citizen (SC) or a Singapore permanent resident (PR) who is at least 21 years old with a SingPass/CorpPass account. If you are applying for an entry visa for business visit (attending business negotiations or discussions), the local contact must be acting on behalf of the Singapore-registered business entity. LOIs issued by your Embassy can also be accepted, if you are unable to secure an LOI from a local contact to support your visa application for social and business visits.

Procedure

With effect from 1 April 2009, the Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore in Chennai no longer accepts individual walk-in applications. All applications would be submitted via a new electronic visa (e-Visa) application system that allows visas to be processed online.

Alternatively, a local sponsor in Singapore (with a SingPass account) can also submit your application online on your behalf.

Fees

The visa processing fee and visa service fee for each application are 30 Singapore dollars* and INR 1000 respectively. Visa processing fee and visa service fee are paid upon application of the visa. The processing fee and visa service fee are non-refundable regardless of the outcome of the application or withdrawal of application after submission. Do also check with the respective Authorised Visa Agent on the rates of other administrative/ miscellaneous fees which may be levied, if any.

*The visa processing fee charged by the Authorised Visa Agents when converted to India rupees is based on the Schedule of Consular Fees issued by the Consulate-General.

Processing time

Your visa application will be processed in 3 to 5 working days after your application has been submitted to an Authorised Visa Agent. This excludes the day of submission, weekends, and public holidays. Some applications may take longer to process.

Each visa application will be considered on its own merits.

Collection

If your application is approved, your Authorised Visa Agent can provide you a copy of your e-Visa.
